Vehicle-originated digital hazard alerts provide earlier awareness
of roadway hazards before they become visible
HOUSTON, Texas (July 21st, 2026) — Emergency Safety Solutions (ESS), the global leader in comprehensive
Advance Warning Solutions focused on reducing roadway injuries and fatalities involving
vulnerable vehicles and people, today announced that H.E.L.P.® Digital Alerts are now available
through the Geotab Marketplace.
The addition expands access to real-time digital hazard communications for commercial,
government, utility, transportation, and service fleets. By accessing the solution through Geotab
Marketplace, fleets can deploy H.E.L.P. Digital Alerts to provide earlier awareness of roadside
hazards through navigation applications, connected vehicle experiences, and in-dash displays.
Built on the principle of “Earlier Awareness - Smarter Actions - Safer Roads,” H.E.L.P. helps fleets
address one of the most persistent dangers on today's roadways: vehicles that become vulnerable
following a crash, breakdown, emergency stop, roadside event, or other unexpected situation.
H.E.L.P. Digital Alerts push real-time hazard notifications directly from the vulnerable vehicle to
approaching drivers, delivering accurate location, presence, and hazard context before a roadside
hazard becomes visible. By extending awareness beyond line of sight, the alerts help approaching
motorists recognize risks sooner and make safer decisions.
Unlike crowdsourced notifications that depend on third-party reporting, H.E.L.P. Digital Alerts
originate directly from the vulnerable vehicle itself, helping provide more immediate and accurate
warnings. Studies have shown that vehicle-originated digital alerts can reduce collision risk by up
to 90 percent and hard braking events by up to 80 percent.
"When every second matters, earlier awareness can make all the difference," said David Tucker,
CEO of ESS. "Making H.E.L.P. Digital Alerts available through the Geotab Marketplace expands
access to real-time, vehicle-originated hazard communications that help approaching drivers
recognize roadway risks sooner and take safer action. It's another step toward a future where
roadway hazards can be communicated before they become visible."
While many technologies focus solely on notifying drivers that a hazard may be ahead, H.E.L.P.
extends protection further by helping approaching motorists recognize and respond to the actual
hazard itself — delivering earlier awareness before a hazard becomes visible and supporting
improved recognition once it comes into view.
ESS' globally patented H.E.L.P.® (Hazard Enhanced Location Protocol) platform is built around a
simple reality: drivers can only react to hazards they are aware of. H.E.L.P. Digital Alerts are one
component of ESS' broader multi-layer advance warning approach, which combines real-time
digital communications with enhanced visibility technologies designed to help approaching drivers
recognize roadway hazards sooner and respond more safely.
Designed for both factory-installed and retrofit applications, the H.E.L.P. platform enables fleets to
adopt next-generation roadway safety technologies across a wide range of vehicle types and
operating environments. Availability through the Geotab Marketplace provides fleets with a
streamlined path to deploy H.E.L.P. Digital Alerts within existing connected vehicle ecosystems
while supporting broader fleet safety initiatives.
H.E.L.P. Digital Alerts are available here on the Geotab Marketplace.
