On May 17th, at around 1:09am, multiple emergency agencies were dispatched to the northbound lanes of Highway 287 near County Road 2898 north of Alvord for a two-vehicle crash.
Upon arrival, law enforcement observed two vehicles involved with major damage. A preliminary investigation determined one vehicle had become disabled and was partially sitting in one of the northbound lanes. A second vehicle, also traveling northbound, struck the disabled vehicle.
The driver of the disabled vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has been identified as a 51-year-old man from Bowie.
The second driver was transported to a Wise County hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
