Indiana Collision: Ohio Driver Hospitalized After Slamming Into Disabled Vehicle

Newton County, IN – A crash on U.S. 41 in Newton County Friday afternoon left an Ohio man injured and northbound traffic at a standstill.

According to Newton County Sheriff’s reports, a pickup truck barreled into a disabled vehicle on the roadside around 4 pm on U.S. 41 near County Road 500 N as a 64-year-old Ohio driver plowed into the disabled car. The disabled vehicle, driven by a 24-year-old Lafayette woman, was perched on the shoulder but protruded partially into the left lane at the time of the crash.

The woman was not injured as she had exited the vehicle prior to the crash. The Ohioan sustained multiple injuries and was aided by witnesses near the scene before being rushed to a nearby hospital.

The identities of those involved were not released. The roadway was closed for over an h outdoor while an investigation was underway.
